Jauan Jennings Injury Update: 49ers WR’s Week 6 Status Revealed

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is officially listed as questionable with an ankle and rib injury as the team enters its Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While he may be playing through pain, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the veteran “is expected to play” for the current NFC West leaders.

Jauan Jennings Injury Update: 49ers WR “Expected to Play” Against Buccaneers

The 49ers have battled injury after injury throughout the 2025 season, and Jauan Jennings is no exception. Limited to just three games, the former seventh-round pick has hauled in nine of his 19 targets for 129 yards and one touchdown. His best game of the season came in Week 2’s win against the New Orleans Saints when he recorded nine receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown.

With Ricky Pearsall out for the contest, Jauan Jennings will likely be the top receiver for the 49ers passing attack. With starting quarterback Brock Purdy also missing the contest to injury, San Francisco will send out backup quarterback Mac Jones for the fourth time this year. During his first three starts, the former first-round pick has completed 66.7% of his passes for 905 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception. If he keeps this up, it will easily be the best season of his career and could earn him a legitimate starting opportunity in 2025.

Despite all the injuries, the 49ers are 4-1 and currently sit atop the NFC West. However, they’re only one game ahead of the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams and must now face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Led by Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay is also 4-1, with all of its wins coming on last-second drives. If nothing else, this game should be an entertaining battle that could ultimately be a preview of a playoff matchup.
