The Kansas City Chiefs got not just good, but “excellent news” entering their Week 4 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs are 1-2 and looking to stack wins. That task got a lot easier, at least on paper, with the highly anticipated return of wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who has not played since the regular season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a shoulder injury.
With Worthy back, the Chiefs can continue expanding upon a promising trend.
Ryan Clark: Xavier Worth’s Return ‘Excellent News’ for Chiefs
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy Set to Return in Week 4
Worthy was injured on a hit from Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce, which the veteran tight end lamented in the aftermath. His absence amplified that of Rashee Rice, who is serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s conduct policy.
The No. 28 overall selection of the 2024 draft, Worthy caught 59 passes for 639 yards and 6 touchdowns as a rookie. He received one target this season before his injury.
Still, Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark, now an analyst for ESPN, lauded Worthy’s return.
“This is excellent news, and I think it’s excellent news because of Tyquan Thornton’s emergence. You know that you have another valuable threat at the receiver position. Now, you add Xavier Worthy to that,” Clark said on “NFL Live” on September 26.
“I want to see if they’re going to utilize him in that role we saw develop down the stretch, where it wasn’t all about taking the chunk shots. It was about putting the football in his hands early.”

The Chiefs signed Thornton in free agency in 2024 after the New England Patriots waived their former second-round draft pick (2022). He has caught nine passes for 171 yards and 2 TDs through three contests. Thornton has a 48-566-4 line in his career.
The Chiefs also still have JuJu Smith-Schuster (10-115-0) and Marquise Brown (19-171-0).
However, the Chiefs enter their matchup against an explosive Ravens team ranked 21st in scoring offense and 18th overall.
Chiefs Get Major Update Before Ravens Game

The Chiefs can be a bit more confident heading into their matchup against the Ravens, with Baltimore announcing they placed Pro Bowl defensive linemen Broderick Washington and Nnamdi Madubuike on injured reserve.
They signed lineman Brent Urban and tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden to their 53-man roster.
The Ravens also elevated defensive linemen C.J. Okoye and Josh Tupou from their practice squad to face the Chiefs.
The Ravens boast the No. 1 scoring offense, and they are 15th overall. But not having Madubuike, who also missed Week 3, or Washington is a significant blow to their 31st-ranked scoring defense that also ranks 32nd overall entering Sunday in Week 4.
The Chiefs’ final injury report listed defensive lineman Mike Danna as doubtful, while Fellow defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte and cornerback Kristian Fulton are both questionable.
Their injury report is otherwise clean, which is the best news possible heading into the game.
The Chiefs still have Super Bowl aspirations, so cleaning up their mistakes and stringing together victories is key. They can begin with a win over the 1-2 Ravens at home in Arrowhead Stadium in Week 4.
