The New York Giants have a stacked defensive line, and it could lead to a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade. A first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Oregon product has yet to live up to his top-five draft capital but is still a reliable starter. Playing and appearing in 12 games last year, the pass rusher finished the season with 5.5 sacks, 28 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, 17 quarterback hits, and a 69.0 PFF grade, the 43rd-best mark out of 119 eligible players.
However, with Brian Burns signed to a massive contract and elite prospect Abdul Carter under contract for the next five seasons, Bleacher Report‘s Matt Holder believes the team should trade Kayvon Thibodeaux and load up on draft picks.
“It feels like this [Kayvon Thibodeaux trade] has been on the table since the Giants were getting heavily linked to Abdul Carter ahead of April’s draft,” Holder writes. “It makes sense, seeing as the organization will likely commit to Carter and Brian Burns on the edge for the long haul, and the front office signed Chauncy Golston in free agency to further supplement the position.”

Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers have a talented roster, but they could use a few more impact players to take their team to the next level. Khalil Mack is still one of the league’s better edge defenders, but Jim Harbaugh’s squad could use another pass rusher. Tuli Tuipulotu is better off in a supporting role, and a team with Super Bowl aspirations like the Chargers shouldn’t mind giving up a decent draft pick in a potential Kayvon Thibodeaux trade. Harbaugh believes in winning games the old-fashioned way, and there’s no better way to do that than by adding talent to the trenches.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals must make the playoffs in 2025 if head coach Jonathan Gannon wants to keep his job. While the Cardinals have some intriguing pieces, this team must improve its defensive line and find a way to get after the quarterback. Josh Sweat offers some upside, but a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade could give this team two reliable pass rushers. If they can’t make the playoffs with these two supporting Kyler Murray’s offense, something will have to change.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers spent the 2024 offseason building the offense at the expense of the defense. That approach worked, as quarterback Bryce Young played like a legitimate franchise quarterback down the stretch. With the offense secure, it’s time for the team to build a competitive all-around roster with a competent defense. While second-round pick Nic Scourton and third-round pick Princely Umanmielen offer long-term upside, a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade would give the Panthers a proven option who could make an impact from Day 1.
