28-Game Starter Signs Contract With Seahawks

Six-year veteran quarterback Drew Lock signed a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Lock, a former second-round pick, spent the 2024 season with the New York Giants but has also played for the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.

Lock entered the season behind former big-money quarterback Daniel Jones but quickly earned a spot in the starting lineup. After Jones failed to build on his uninspiring 2023 and Tommy DeVito disappointed, Lock finished the season as New York’s starting quarterback. Appearing in eight games while making five starts, the veteran finished the season with a 1-4 record while completing 59.1% of his passes for 1,071 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions. This includes a win over the Colts where Lock accounted for five total touchdowns while putting up one of the most efficient performances in NFL history.

Drew Lock originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the Denver Broncos, then-General Manager John Elway believed the Missouri product could be the long-awaited heir to Peyton Manning. Beginning the year on the bench, Lock started down the stretch and showed plenty of promise as a rookie. In his five starts, Lock completed 64.1% of his passes for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Lock entered 2020 as Denver’s starting quarterback but couldn’t build on his rookie success. Starting and appearing in 13 games, Lock completed just 57.3% of his passes for 2,933 yards, 16 touchdowns, and a league-high 15 interceptions. Following this disappointing season, Denver included the former second-round pick as part of the Russell Wilson trade.

Widely expected to take over the starting job in Seattle, Lock lost the starting battle to veteran Geno Smith. In total, the quarterback spent two years in Seattle, making four appearances and two starts in place of the injured veteran. During his limited action in Seattle, Lock went 1-1 while completing 63.2% of his passes for 543 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.
