2024 Dynasty Running Back Rankings – Fantasy Football

The fantasy football season is almost over, so it's time to take a swing at the way too early 2024 dynasty running back rankings.
Dynasty Running Back Rankings

Another season is almost in the books, which means it’s time to re-evaluate the top players at each position in dynasty. Who tops the 2024 dynasty running back rankings? Which players fell the furthest from the 2023 dynasty running back rankings? All this and more.

Note: The rookie class will be added following the draft as draft capital and landing spot will determine a team’s investment in the player and will help project opportunities.

2024 Dynasty Running Back Rankings – Fantasy Football

Elite Dynasty Running Backs

  • Bijan Robinson
  • Breece Hall
  • Jahmyr Gibbs
  • Christian McCaffrey

For anyone looking for top ten points and four or more years left on the tires, this is the tier. The 2017 draft class is getting ancient in running back years, but McCaffrey is an outlier among outliers so he should stay on your roster until he retires.

Running Back One Options

  • Travis Etienne
  • De’Von Achane
  • Kyren Williams
  • Kenneth Walker
  • Jonathan Taylor

Draft capital goes out the window in Los Angeles. Williams and Achane are on two opposite ends of the running back spectrum. Achane will get 12 to 15 touches, but any one of them could be an eighty yard touchdown. Williams will get 99% of the opportunities for the Rams, but how long can he keep it up? In two year windows, both have huge appeal. Taylor and Walker are both immensely talented, but have their upside capped. Anthony Richardson will poach JT, while Walker is already having his workload eaten into by Zach Charbonnet. Etienne probably has an argument to be in his own tier as a workhorse, but just doesn’t have the insane ability of McCaffrey or the longevity of the names above him.

Serviceable For Now or Fun Next Year

  • Javonte Williams
  • Rachaad White
  • Saquon Barkley
  • James Cook
  • Isiah Pacheco
  • Josh Jacobs
  • Alvin Kamara
  • D’Andre Swift
  • Joe Mixon
  • David Montgomery

There will be few things more exciting in 2024 than Javonte Williams another year removed from injury. Jacobs Barkley and Montgomery are all straight out a Ford F-150 commercial. Rugged. Tough. Dependable. They just might break down like a Chevy SSR. With a weak RB class, most of these guys should feel comfortable in their roles for 2024.

Start Them or Stash Them

  • Brian Robinson
  • Rhamondre Stevenson
  • Tony Pollard
  • Tyjae Spears
  • Jaylen Warren
  • Austin Ekeler
  • Najee Harris
  • Chuba Hubbard
  • Zach Charbonnet
  • Nick Chubb
  • Derrick Henry

There will be even fewer things more exciting than Tyjae Spears if Derrick Henry goes somewhere else. If Henry stays, Spears moves down in the tier but will still be a FLEX option in a desolate RB environment. Most of these guys have their job on lock for 2024, but likely won’t be hanging around much longer. Hubbard surprisingly beat out Miles Sanders for the job in Carolina, and with limited picks and a weird free agency class could find himself the de facto RB1 in Charlotte.

Hope They Have a Job

  • Ty Chandler
  • Jerome Ford
  • Roschon Johnson
  • Keaton Mitchell
  • Raheem Mostert
  • James Conner
  • Kendre Miller
  • Devin Singletary
  • Dameon Pierce
  • A.J. Dillon
  • Aaron Jones
  • Khalil Herbert
  • Chase Brown
  • Tyler Allgeier
  • Zach Moss

Handcuffs, grumpy old men and exciting rookies is going to be the name of the new movie starring this cast. The Houston Texans running backs are grossly splitting carries, as are the Bears and Vikings. This tier is a bunch of dart throws at best, but A.J. Dillon and Kendre Miller could inherit useful fantasy roles if their incumbents move on.

These People Also Play Football

  • Alexander Mattison
  • Antonio Gibson
  • Elijah Mitchell
  • Tank Bigsby
  • Rico Dowdle
  • Kareem Hunt
  • Israel Abanikanda
  • Jaleel McLaughlin
  • Zamir White
  • Ezekiel Elliot

Important note, this is for 2024 otherwise Elliot would be much higher. Everyone else here is a handcuff of sadness, with hopes and prayers for playing time falling on deaf ears. Anyone in this tier should be concerned about job security if a 2024 rookie comes to town.
