Sean Murphy-Bunting, Tennessee Titans, Agree to Contract
While injuries limited him to just 12 games of regular season action, Sean Murphy-Bunting remained a valuable player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when on the field. Throughout the course of the season, Murphy-Bunting recorded two interceptions, 31 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and seven passes defended while allowing a 51.2% completion percentage, 4.5 yards, and a 59.6 passer rating when targeted.
Sean Murphy-Bunting originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Central Michigan product immediately made a big impact for the young defense. Appearing in all 16 games while making 10 starts, the rookie recorded three interceptions, eight passes defended, one forced fumble, one sack, and 44 tackles while allowing a 65.0% completion percentage and an 84.3 passer rating when targeted.
Murphy-Bunting built on his promising rookie season to be one of the most important defensive players on the 2020 Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Appearing in all 16 games while making 13 starts, the cornerback finished the year with one interception, three passes defended, one forced fumble, 70 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, and one quarterback. Murphy-Bunting saved his best work for January, as the second-year pro recorded three interceptions during Tampa Bay’s charge to the Super Bowl.
Injuries limited Murphy-Bunting to just nine games and eight starts in 2022, but he remained his reliable self when on the field. During his time in action, Murphy-Bunting recorded three passes defended, one forced fumble, 43 tackles, and one tackle-for-loss while allowing a 59.3% completion rate, 7.6 yards per target, and a 101.5 passer rating.
Since signing his rookie contract, Sean Murphy-Bunting has played in 53 games while making 36 starts. During his time on the field, the cornerback has recorded six interceptions, 21 passes defended, four forced fumbles, one sack, and 188 tackles.
