Bobby Wagner Signs Contract With Los Angeles Rams

Longtime NFL veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Wagner, a six-time First-Team All-Pro and member of the All-2010’s Team, spent the entirety of his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wagner’s departure from Seattle marked one of the darkest days in the history of the Seahawks franchise. Released on the same day as the Russell Wilson trade, the two were arguably the most important faces of the 2012-2021 Seattle Seahawks. Now, both players are out of town as Seattle looks to rebuild.

Even though Seattle released Wagner, the linebacker is still one of the best at his position. In 2021, the Utah State product started 16 games, recording 170 tackles, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, one interception, and one forced fumble. His 71.8 PFF grade ranked 15th best among linebackers and earned him his eighth Pro Bowl selection.

Wagner initially entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, Wagner immediately became a key part of the best defenses of the era. Appearing in all 16 games while making 15 starts, the linebacker finished his rookie season with two sacks, 140 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and three interceptions.

Following his rookie season, Wagner helped Seattle win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. Starting and appearing in 14 games, Wagner finished the season with a career-high five sacks, 120 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits. Interestingly enough, this was one of only two seasons in which Wagner did not earn a spot in the Pro Bowl. Wagner earned the honors in every season from 2014 to 2021, and also earned six First-Team All-Pro nominations over that eight-year timeframe.

Throughout the course of his storied career, Wagner has recorded 23.5 sacks, 1,383 tackles, 68 tackles for loss, 78 quarterback hits, and 11 interceptions.
