Romeo Doubs 2022 NFL Draft Profile

Romeo Doubs participated at the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile Alabama. He possesses the speed to breakaway for big plays downfiel, as evidenced by his 17.8 yards per catch in 2021. Also, the size and build matches up well against defenders. Doubs is one of three receivers to have back to back 1,000 yard receiving seasons. In 2021, the productivity maxed out with 80 catches and 1,109 yards and two touchdowns. Doubs is a receiver felible enough to play either inside or outside. Most likely, the outside is more suitable. The speed is one thing. The ability to catch the ball — then move without hesitation. Changing direction can leave defenders in the dust.

Doubs also maintains control when the ball is in the air to hands. Absolute determination on 50/50 balls. He plays taller than he really is. His feet may be his dazzling assets. Loves to walk a tightrope against the sideline. Combination of speed and balance tricks defensive backs when there is little room to manipulate. Solid punt returner averaging 12.5 yards a return. Any player adding the possibility of returning kicks or punts increases the stock for a player.

Bottom Line On Romeo Doubs

Doubs is a solid wide receiver looking for the right place to call home. He attend the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl and performed extremely well — an injury did keep him out of the NFL Combine and the Nevada Pro Day. Still, there is plenty of tape to investigate Doubs’ accolades. Of course, having quarterback Carson Strong assisted him in putting up gaudy numbers for receiving. Nonetheless, Doubs proved his worth as a bonafide downfield long bomb threat.

Stretching the defense is a bonus. Teams will find plenty of tape of Doubs losing defenders in the dust. Taking off from the line of scrimmage shows a burst of speed. On the other hand, the route running is something lacking more. Doubs has to improve on expanding the routes beyond flying past defenders. In the NFL, it’s a different level of play too.

Adding in a more expansive route tree helps his stock on draft day. Could move up to the third round for a team looking for solidarity. Plenty of players out of college with blazing speed doesn’t always transfer to the NFL. Especially, if the speed is all the player offers. On the other hand, Doubs is fortunate enough to bring to the table natural versality. In other words, his frame is filled out where going up against press coverage would not be an issues.

With reliable body control, Doubs is a nice value pickup midway through the NFL Draft. He holds the tools necessary to be an NFL starter. Going to the right team is key.
