In 2021, Clowney resurrected his career in Cleveland. A three-time Pro Bowl selection with an extensive injury history, he was able to play 14 games. It was the most since he appeared in 15 games in 2018. He compiled 9 sacks, the highest total since he had nine sacks in 2018 and career-high 9.5 in 2017. Clowney said he just wanted to make it through a year healthy and show people that he could play at a high level. Going into the offseason, he feels he is ahead of the curve – with no injuries, he has no need for any surgery.

Clowney signed a one-year deal worth $12 million with the Tennessee Titans in 2020. Unfortunately, he spent a good part of that season on injured reserve with a knee injury. He had surgery on torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee on December 6, 2020.

2019 was a productive year for Clowney. The Houston Texans traded Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks. In week one against the Cincinnati Bengals, Clowney sacked Andy Dalton in a 21-20 win. His first-ever regular season interception took place in Arizona on September 29, 2019, off a screen pass from Kyler Murray. He returned it to the end zone for a touchdown in Seattle’s 27-10 win. In week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers, he recorded a strip sack. That eventually led to a 27- 24 overtime win. Clowney was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

In week 4 of the 2018 season, Clowney was in his fourth year with the Houston Texans. He recorded four tackles, two sacks, and recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in a 37- 34 win over the Indianapolis Colts. His performance made him NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Clowney’s first NFL touchdown came off of a fumble by Tom Brady on September 24, 2017. He has named to his second Pro Bowl two months later.
