Louis Riddick to Interview With the Jacksonville Jaguars for Open GM Position
Riddick is a familiar name in NFL circles, but not because he currently holds a front office position. Rather, he is a Monday Night Football Analyst for ESPN. Riddick has already interviewed for Houston and Detroit’s open GM positions. Though there were previous rumors that Jacksonville was interested in Riddick, the New York Jets loss on Sunday likely hastened the interview. The Jaguars may have the first pick the 2021 NFL Draft and any potential GM would salivate at that opportunity.
Riddick has been an analyst with ESPN since 2013. Due to his front office experience with two NFC East teams, Riddick started out as an NFL Front Office Insider. However, his role with the company grew over time. Riddick has been involved with regular shows such as Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, and NFL Live; in addition to special events like Super Bowl coverage and the NFL Scouting Combine. Though Riddick became a Monday Night Football analyst just this August, he’s been a regular on many weekly and special game coverages.
Before joining ESPN, Riddick spent over a decade in NFL front offices. From 2001 to 2004, Riddick was a Pro scout for the Washington Redskins. He was the Director of Pro Personnel for the Redskins from 2005 to 2007. Riddick then went to a rival team, the Philadelphia Eagles, and was a Pro Scout in 2008. In 2009, Riddick was the Assistant Director of Pro Personnel for the Eagles. He later became the Director of Pro Personnel for the Eagles from 2010 to 2013.
Prior to Riddick’s time as an NFL Executive, he played in the NFL from 1991 to 1998. Riddick was a safety and played for four NFL teams. He played for the San Francisco 49ers, the Atlanta Falcons, the Cleveland Browns, and the Oakland Raiders. Riddick played for Pittsburgh in college and is originally from Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
