TreVeyon Henderson Concussion Update: Star RB’s Status Revealed For Jets-Patriots

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson suffered a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens last week, but it won’t keep him off the field in Week 17. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the breakout rookie cleared the protocol and is expected to play against the New York Jets.

TreVeyon Henderson Clears Concussion Protocol, Should Play Against Jets

This is great news for the Patriots, as New England will likely operate a run-heavy gameplan against their division rivals. While the Patriots pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind victory against the Baltimore Ravens, they also lost wide receivers Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins to injury. With the offensive line battling injuries of its own and this projecting to be a low-scoring game, look for the Patriots to try and win this game on the ground.

TreVeyon Henderson had a slow start to his season, but has been one of the league’s more dangerous backs in the second half of the year. Selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Ohio State product has recorded 776 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on just 148 carries (5.2 yards per attempt). He’s also added juice to the receiving game, hauling in 35 of his 42 targets for 221 yards and a touchdown. While veteran Rhamondre Stevenson has been the team’s primary starter, it’s safe to say that Henderson will be the future of this backfield for years to come.

At 12-3, the Patriots currently lead the AFC East by one game and are looking to go from worst to first in the division. Led by an MVP candidate in quarterback Drake Maye and head coach Mike Vrabel, the future is bright for this organization.
