Drake London Injury Update: Star WR’s Status Revealed For Falcons-Cardinals

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London missed the past few weeks with a knee injury, but the star pass-catcher should make his triumphant return against the Arizona Cardinals. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, London is expected to play for the first time since Week 12. While this isn’t an official report, it bodes well for his odds of finally returning to the field.

Drake London Injury Update: Falcons WR Expected to Play Against Cardinals

While the Falcons are out of the playoff race, the fans must be happy about seeing Drake London return from injury. The former first-round pick has been a good player since entering the league, but he was on a remarkable hot streak before his injury. London recorded at least 100 yards in five of his previous six healthy games, including a nine-catch, 18-yard, three-touchdown performance against the New England Patriots. So far this season, the fourth-year wideout has played in nine games while recording 60 receptions for 810 yards and six touchdowns. Were it not for his injury, this probably would have been the most successful season of his career.

Drake London’s knee injury coincided with quarterback Michael Penix’s ACL tear, and now the wide receiver will catch passes from veteran Kirk Cousins for the remainder of the season. While the high-priced backup came out of the gate slowly, he’s actually played well the past few weeks. While it’s too late for Atlanta to make the playoffs, a late-season win streak could increase Cousins’ trade value and keep Atlanta’s first-round pick from being a top-10 selection. After all, the Los Angeles Rams have that selection, so the Falcons shouldn’t worry about a late-season win streak impacting draft capital.
