5. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos currently control the AFC West, but they’ll need to add more talent to hold on to their divisional lead. After a slow start to the season, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are back to looking like their unstoppable selves. The defense is strong, Mahomes is in the thick of the MVP race, and wide receiver Rashee Rice is back on the field.
Denver has a great defense, and Bo Nix is making the Year 2 leap, but he’s not an elite quarterback. While the top five or so quarterbacks in the NFL can create an elite passing attack regardless of their surrounding, a good-but-not-great one like Nix needs better weapons. Throwing deep is probably the weakest part of Nix’s game, and a Rashid Shaheed trade could give the Broncos a better downfield target.
