2. New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have the biggest competitive advantage in football: an elite quarterback on a rookie contract. Nobody has played better football over the last month than Drake Maye, and the UNC product’s breakout has New England atop the AFC East with a 5-2 record. While this team should cruise to a Wild Card spot at the very least, a Maxx Crosby trade could turn this team into a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
New England currently has the most cap space in football by a comfortable margin, so they could afford to make this move. While the Patriots defense isn’t a liability, it’s not nearly as intimidating as its high-powered passing attack. Adding Crosby to the mix could fix New England’s greatest weakness, and his ability to quickly pressure the quarterback should make life easier for cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, and Marcus Jones.
