4. Alec Pierce, Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are perhaps the biggest surprise in the NFL, and Alec Pierce is a key part of their success. While he doesn’t always light up the score sheet, he provides a key role in this offense as the team’s lone deep threat. While Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, and Tyler Warren all work the short and intermediate parts of the field, Pierce exclusively works downfield and only needs a few receptions per game to justify a flex play.
This type of low-volume role is inherently risky, but it offers great upside in the right offense. Don’t look now, but the Colts have one of the most efficient offenses in NFL history. Alec Pierce has a decent shot of finding the endzone every single week, and you could do a lot worse in your flex spot.
