The latest Kayshon Boutte rumors are spreading like wildfire this week as the wide receiver could be traded in the upcoming weeks. Boutte, a former sixth-round pick, has been subject to several trade rumors this offseason after the New England Patriots signed Romeo Doubs while acquiring AJ Brown. It made the young star expendable as he enters the final season of his current rookie contract. It’s been rumored for weeks that the team is shopping him, and now it looks like the receiver is close to being on his way out.
The receiver posted on social media via his Instagram Story with an “eyes” emoji on a black screen. It’s sure going to get people across the league, including die-hard Patriots fans, to decipher what this means. Of course, if you connect the dots, he’s breaking his silence on the latest trade rumors, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him on a new roster come Week 1. At the same time, it could be something different, like a key acquisition the Patriots made before the upcoming training camp.
However, it’s interesting timing for the receiver and New England. Nobody should assume, but it feels too obvious here.

Kayshon Boutte Rumors: Cryptic Post Likely Signals Immediate $4M Trade
A Deal Now?
It’d be wise for the Patriots to move the receiver before the 2026 season. The team can’t afford to lose Boutte during the campaign to a possible injury, which means his trade value will diminish. They won’t be looking for a top pick for the receiver, but New England wants to make sure they have a fair deal. A fourth-round pick for the receiver sounds reasonable, and these three teams could easily give the Patriots what they’re looking for.
Potential Destinations
Kansas City Chiefs
With Rashee Rice back in the fold amid his legal trouble this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs are holding their breath this upcoming campaign. They’re wary of extending the receiver’s contract as he enters the final year of it. Behind Rice, you have Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton and an inexperienced Jalen Royals. The Chiefs, being one of the greatest teams in the NFL, have a weak WR room.
Travis Kelce is set to retire after the 2026 season, so they need a true playmaker to boost their pass attack. QB Patrick Mahomes is coming back from a season-ending injury, so the Chiefs need to do everything to ensure he has enough weapons to succeed. Adding Boutte in the WR mix could create much-needed competition for Thornton and Rice.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of a significant upgrade. The team isn’t closing the door on Keenan Allen returning, but nobody should expect another nostalgia moment from him, and he’ll probably retire. Now, you have Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, while the rest of the WR room consists of early inexperienced playmakers. If the Chargers want to position Justin Herbert as a top-5 QB, they should do everything in their power to get Boutte.
He isn’t God, but the Chargers have yet to get past the wild-card, so Boutte and McConkey in the aerial attack would be a nice thing to see for this pass offense.
Indianapolis Colts
After trading away Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Indianapolis Colts have been struggling to find their next WR2. Ashton Dulin and Josh Downs aren’t enough to compensate for what Alec Pierce will do on the field. Indianapolis will look in free agency, but they should be able to make a splash trade here to get a complementary playmaker that’d benefit Daniel Jones and this offense.
