3. Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones loves to make low-risk gambles on big names, and Treylon Burks could be the next player to join the club. Some of these gambles have worked out (George Pickens) while others haven’t (Jonathan Mingo), but Burks should be cheaper than either player. After all, he’s a free agent and shouldn’t cost anything more than a veteran minimum contract and a spot on the practice squad.
The Cowboys have one of the worst defenses in football and no way to fix it without a massive trade. Fortunately, Dak Prescott is playing some of his best football and has the talent to go blow-for-blow with any team in a shootout. While this isn’t an ideal way to play football, adding someone like Burks to the mix will give Prescott another set of hands with decent upside, which could make a difference as the team fights for a Wild Card spot.
