“Retiring Is Not Happening” – Giants Legend Hints at NFL Future

Former superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham is not with an NFL team, but the Giants legend isn’t ready to give up on his professional career. During a recent interview with Complex, the three-time Pro Bowler stated in no uncertain terms that he wants to be back on the football field.

“Retiring is not happening,” Beckham said. “I just came from the gym. This is the first time in a long time I can, like, pop up out of bed or if a dog was about to chase me I could take off running. I’m good. And I know I could play in the league right now.

Odell Beckham: “I Know I Could Play in the League Right Now

Odell Beckham last played for the Miami Dolphins and didn’t do much of anything for them in the 2024 season. Appearing in nine games without making a start, the veteran finished the season with just nine receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown. Miami missed the playoffs and never looked like their old selves throughout the season.

Beckham originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the New York Giants, the LSU product made an immedaite impact, recording 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games as a rookie. He followed this up with equally dominant seasons in 2015 and 2016 before injuries limited him to just four games in 2017. While he returned in 2018, the Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 offseason.

Despite being paired with an up-and-coming talent in Baker Mayfield, the two sides struggled to develop chemistry during their time together. While he reached the 1,000-yard threshold in 2019, he tore his ACL in 2020 and the team released him midway through the 2021 season.

Following his release, Beckham landed with the Los Angeles Rams and played a key role in their championship run. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl and hasn’t looked the same since.
