13-year veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner signed a new contract with the Washington Commanders. Wagner, a nine-time Pro Bowler and six-time First-Team All-Pro, spent the 2024 season with the Washington Commanders but also played for the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams.

Bobby Wagner, Washington Commanders, Agree to Contract
Despite playing in his age-34 season, Bobby Wagner remained one of the league’s elite linebackers in 2024. Starting all 17 games for the Washington Commanders, the Utah State product finished the season with two sacks, 132 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, eight quarterback hits, and an 88.3 PFF grade, the 3rd-best mark out of 84 eligible linebackers. The future Hall of Famer earned Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro honors as the Commanders made it to the NFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, their miracle season ended on a low note after a lopsided defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bobby Wagner originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, the Utah State product immediately earned a starting job and became a crucial piece of one of the NFL’s great defenses. Starting in 15 games as a rookie, Wagner recorded three interceptions, two sacks, 140 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and five quarterback hits while finishing second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year vote.
Wagner proved this wasn’t a one-year fluke and quickly entered the discussion for the best linebacker in football. In 2013, he helped Seattle win their first Super Bowl in franchise history, defeating Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos in blowout fashion. One year later, Wagner made his first Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro selection while also earning a surprising MVP vote. He continued his dominance throughout the 2010s and 2020s, missing the Pro Bowl just once in the past 11 seasons.
Since signing his rookie contract, Bobby Wagner has recorded 35 sacks, 1,838 tackles, 99 tackles-for-loss, and 102 quarterback hits.
