Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs is unhappy with his current organization and could seek a trade. Once a featured part of the passing attack, the third-year wide receiver took something of a step back early in 2024 thanks to the emergence of second-year wide receiver Jayden Reed. Playing in an offense that emphasizes the importance of sharing the wealth, Doubs has recorded just 12 receptions for 169 yards and no touchdowns on the young season.

Romeo Doubs is a good player who could earn more targets in a different offense, so it’s easy to see why he might want a trade. On the other hand, you can also see why the Packers aren’t featuring him like a true WR1. Even with Christian Watson battling injury, Green Bay has three other reliable weapons in Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and tight end Tucker Kraft. Head coach Matt LaFleur is one of the best offensive minds in football, so if he doesn’t feel like changing his scheme to make Doubs happy, he could send the wide receiver to a receiver-needy team like the Kansas City Chiefs or Los Angeles Chargers.
Romeo Doubs Deletes Packers Posts From Social Media, Could Signal Chiefs, Chargers Trade
The Kansas City Chiefs aggressively addressed the wide receiver position during the offseason, but an unfortunate run of injuries made those efforts irrelevant. Free agent signee Marquise Brown will miss the season thanks to a preseason shoulder injury, while second-year pro Rashee Rice landed on the injured reserve after inadvertently taking a hit from Patrick Mahomes. This leaves the explosive yet untested Xavier Worthy as the last man standing in the wide receiver room. Mahomes can make do with him and an aging Travis Kelce, but a Romeo Doubs trade should have him playing like an MVP again.
Prior to the Rashee Rice injury, Patrick Mahomes had the lowest average depth of target in football. This is understandable, as Rice is most dangerous in the short and intermediate part of the field, but it is a waste of Mahomes’ natural arm talent. Romeo Doubs isn’t Tyreek Hill by any stretch of the imagination, but the trade target is more of a threat in the intermediate and deep part of the field. Last year, he had an 11.7 average depth of target, so his addition should add a much-needed vertical element to this offense.

Help For Justin Herbert
The honeymoon period could be over in Los Angeles, as two straight losses led to a clearly frustrated Justin Herbert on the sideline. Head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to win with defense and the running game, but you can’t beat good teams if you can’t throw the ball. Second-round pick Ladd McConkey and 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston had their moments early in the season, but this team should consider a Romeo Doubs trade to add a proven veteran with a track record of success.
Justin Herbert is battling a high ankle sprain and Lisfranc injury and isn’t playing up to his usual standard. At his best, Herbert is a top-five quarterback, but the hobbled version we see today needs more help than he currently has. Romeo Doubs won’t turn this team into the league’s most dangerous offense, but the trade target should make it easier to throw the ball, which in turn should force defenses to put less emphasis on stopping the run.
