2024 Dynasty Quarterback Rankings – Fantasy Football

The fantasy football season is almost over, so it's time to take a swing at the way too early 2024 dynasty quarterback rankings.
2024 Dynasty Quarterback Rankings

Another season is almost in the books, which means it’s time to re-evaluate the top players at each position in dynasty. Who tops the 2024 dynasty quarterback rankings? Which players fell the furthest from the 2023 dynasty quarterback rankings? All this and more.

Note: Rookies will be added following the 2024 draft as draft capital and landing spot play a large part in a quarterback’s job security and development.

2024 Dynasty Quarterback Rankings – Fantasy Football

Tier One – League Winners

  • Jalen Hurts
  • Josh Allen

These are the top two quarterbacks in points per game (PPG) for 2023. And one and three for 2022. And one and three for the first half of 2021 until Hurts wrestled with some nagging injuries. They’re currently scoring four and a half points per game more than any other quarterback under 30 for 2023 and will continue to win leagues until they stop running, at which point they’ll still be serviceable QB2s until they retire.

Tier Two – Cornerstone Quarterbacks

  • Justin Herbert
  • Patrick Mahomes
  • Lamar Jackson
  • C.J. Stroud
  • Joe Burrow

Yes, it’s a big tier. But the bar for this is a history of elite quarterback production mixed with job security. As it stands now, each of these players (other than C.J. Stroud) has a contract that keeps them safe and a top five fantasy finish in their past. It’s splitting hairs, but Herbert has beat Mahomes in PPG half of his seasons in the NFL, and is currently beating him.

Tier Three – Viable QB1 Options or Long Term QB2s

  • Kyler Murray
  • Tua Tagovailoa
  • Dak Prescott
  • Anthony Richardson
  • Trevor Lawrence
  • Brock Purdy

Kyler, Tua, Richardson and Lawrence can all jump up into the tier two options with a full QB1 season, but right now are just a hair behind. Each of these players presents stability at the quarterback position (yes even Purdy) or has the upside to break fantasy open next year (Richardson).

Tier Four – Young and Boring, Young and Risky, and Mr. Unlimited

  • Justin Fields
  • Jordan Love
  • Jared Goff
  • Russell Wilson
  • Will Levis
  • Sam Howell
  • Bryce Young

Goff, Wilson and Love have done enough to keep their starting jobs and are low end QB1s until further notice (or until QB injuries stop hitting like the plague). Levis, Young and Fields are starting next year, whether in their original towns or elsewhere. Howell is the funky option here. If he’s the starter in Washington moving forward, this is way too low and this article will be on Fantasy Receipts before long. If he flames out or gets replaced, this is way too high and this article will be on Fantasy Receipts before long. Win win! I think he’ll get one more season, but the instability in the organization and his draft capital commitment are cause for concern.

Tier Five – Gross Contracts, Injuries and One Year Rentals

  • Deshaun Watson
  • Geno Smith
  • Matthew Stafford
  • Baker Mayfield
  • Kenny Pickett
  • Daniel Jones
  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Kirk Cousins

Any interest in 40 year olds with devastating injuries? Or maybe first round quarterbacks that refuse to score fantasy points? Stafford and Smith have a chance to continue to be relevant, but the writing is on the wall for Stafford to retire soon. This is the last tier of players that we’re 90% sure have jobs in 2024.

Tier Six – Pray They Have a Job

  • Desmond Ridder
  • Joshua Dobbs
  • Derek Carr
  • Trey Lance
  • Aidan O’Connell
  • Mac Jones/Bailey Zappe

If you made me guess which of these players has the best chance at a starting job in 2024, it’s Josh Dobbs. Which is hilarious. These are the players that sit at the end of dynasty rosters and you pray you don’t need to put them in. Lance is a stash for 2025 or in case Dak gets hurt again (having handcuff quarterbacks is important and he hasn’t played a full season since 2020). If a superflex team is relying on these players, it might be time for a rebuild. These guys are at bottom of dynasty quarterback rankings for a reason.
