Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings

Will Levis

One blink and the NFL season is officially halfway done. This doesn’t stop the league’s best wide receivers from torching defenders and keeping their fantasy managers happy.

Nevertheless, this week’s edition of fantasy wide receivers comes with little surprise. Yet, there are a few names that are rising in the ranks when most people didn’t have a clue about their production before the start of the season.

Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings: Adam Thielen Makes It To Must-Start Territory

Tier 1: Clear Cut WR1

1. Tyreek Hill
2. A.J. Brown
3. Ja’Marr Chase
4. CeeDee Lamb
5. Stefon Diggs
6. Keenan Allen
7. Cooper Kupp
8. Adam Thielen

Last week, A.J. Brown set the record for most games in a row with 125+ receiving yards. It’s clear Brown is one of the top wide receivers this season and he has no signs of slowing down against the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaking of Cowboys, CeeDee Lamb had his best game of the season racking up 12 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb gets to go up against a vulnerable Philadelphia Eagles secondary as his targets continue to climb.

There’s not a lot to like about the Carolina Panthers offense, but Adam Thielen has served as Bryce Young‘s favorite target and continues to climb up the wide receiver rankings. The Panthers got their first win of the season in week 8 and will look to turn their season around behind Thielen’s helpful hands.

Tier 2: Solid WR1/Strong WR2

9. Jaylen Waddle
10. Davante Adams
11. Puka Nacua
12. Garrett Wilson
13. Mike Evans
14. Chris Olave
15. DK Metcalf

It was only a matter of time before Jaylen Waddle would find his rhythm again and make his way back to the top of the wide receiver rankings. The all-pro wide receiver ended Week 8 with seven receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown. Waddle now has what is expected to be a high-scoring matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

It was a disappointing week for the Las Vegas Raiders. Davante Adams finished with just one catch for 11 yards, but a forgiving matchup against the New York Giants should cure all the mishaps.

It hasn’t been the season fantasy season managers had hoped for, but Garrett Wilson remains a strong WR2 candidate. Perhaps if managers ride it out long enough Aaron Rodgers can return early like he has been hinting at.

Tier 3: Wr2

16. Terry McLaurin
17. DeAndre Hopkins
18. Michael Pittman Jr.
19. Jakobi Meyers
20. Zay Flowers
21. D.J. Moore
22. DeVonta Smith
23. George Pickens
24. Diontae Johnson
25. Nico Collins

All it took was a rookie quarterback to take over the Tennessee Titans offense to finally see DeAndre Hopkins rise up in this week’s wide receiver rankings. Hopkins now has three touchdowns on the season, all from one game, and will look to ride his chemistry with Will Levis.

It doesn’t matter who’s throwing the ball for the Indianapolis Colts, Michael Pittman Jr is the top receiving option. Pittman has back-to-back games with a receiving touchdown and will look for another against the Panthers.

All the ridicule of the Baltimore Ravens not having stud receivers seems to be a thing of the past thanks to Zay Flowers. As the season progresses, look for Flowers to be involved in more creative ways with Todd Monken’s offense.

Tier 4: WR3/Flex Consideration

26. Tee Higgins
27. Chris Godwin
28. Gabe Davis
29. Marquise Brown
30. Tyler Lockett
31. Amari Cooper
32. Jordan Addison
33. Josh Downs
34. Drake London*
35. Christian Watson
36. Joshua Palmer

The Cincinnati Bengals offense seems to have finally woken up. Joe Burrow’s calf seems to longer be bothering him as Tee Higgins may find his way higher in the wide receiver rankings in a few weeks.

Marquise Brown got his revenge against the Ravens last week. There’s a strong chance Kyler Murray will make his first start of the season in week 9 further bolstering Brown’s value.

Jordan Addison has been on a tear for the Minnesota Vikings with Justin Jefferson still on IR. Unfortunately, Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles injury putting a damper on Addison’s production moving forward.
