The latest DeAndre Hopkins rumors project the veteran wide receiver could sign a new contract in the coming weeks. After CB Rasul Douglas signed with the Washington Commanders this week, many NFL free agents are expected to sign new deals right in time for training camp at the end of July. Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports put together a list of top free agents and believes the Buffalo Bills are a top fit for Hopkins. While there are multiple WR free agents, including Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs and Keenan Allen, still available, the former Ravens WR could find a new home soon.
Selected as a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the former Clemson product has been a journeyman ever since leaving the Houston Texans. The veteran spent time with the Cardinals, Titans and most recently between the Chiefs and Ravens, looking to add at least one Super Bowl to his resume. After failing to do so in Baltimore and Kansas City, the WR expressed his desire to sign with a contender and isn’t in a rush to join a new roster.

DeAndre Hopkins Rumors: 3 Top Suitors Could Sign All-Pro
How Long Will He Wait?
While the receiver is no longer in his prime, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he wants to wait right before the 2027 postseason. Hopkins can be a great fit anywhere he goes, as he hasn’t shown any durability concerns. The bigger question is where that could be. At the same time, the veteran doesn’t want to wait too long; he knows that if other free agents start to pick up interest before him, there’s a chance he could retire instead.
Let’s explore the three teams that are willing to roll the dice on the veteran.
Top Fits
Los Angeles Chargers
Likely, Keenan Allen won’t return to Los Angeles, but the door isn’t fully closed. Like any other NFL team, the Chargers will consider all options; however, they’ve been reluctant to at least trade for a superstar to help QB Justin Herbert. The team drafted Brenen Thompson, but with Tre’ Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, they look more like a rebuilding roster than one that wants to win a championship in the next five seasons.
This won’t rub Herbert the right way, so head coach Jim Harbaugh must do something to bring this offense a dynamic playmaker. Hopkins isn’t the same receiver he once was, but the Chargers could use all the help they can get. Behind Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey, the All-Pro would be a game-changing addition for this offense.
San Francisco 49ers
While the biggest storyline for the San Francisco 49ers this offseason has been the Brandon Aiyuk saga. With him being out the door soon, free agent acquisition Christian Kirk could be on his way out of a job soon, too. Kirk hasn’t been able to stay healthy in recent memory, so this would create room for Hopkins to find his footing in a rotational role if that’s the route the 49ers want to take.
Between Ricky Pearsall, Mike Evans and 2026 draft selection De’Zhaun Stribling, the former Ravens WR could increase his production to help guide Brock Purdy to his first ring.
Chicago Bears
After trading DJ Moore earlier this offseason, the Chicago Bears should be looking to add an experienced postseason pass-catcher. Right now, the Bears are rolling the dice on Rome Odunze and Luther Burden to step up hugely, but QB Caleb Williams thrives better when he has that dynamic game-changer involved in the offense.
What Moore did last season is what Chicago is lacking. The Bears drafted Zavion Thomas, but he will slowly need to mold into the league. Free Agent acquisition Kalif Raymond is more of a special-teams playmaker, so this opens the door for Hopkins to find his role in this offense that can win a Super Bowl next year.
