NFL veteran offensive lineman Taylor Lewan has announced his retirement from the NFL. Lewan, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, spent the entirety of his professional career with the Tennessee Titans.

Taylor Lewan Calls It A Career, Announces Retirement
The 2022 season was one to forget for Taylor Lewan. After entering the season as Tennessee’s starting tackle, Lewan’s season met a premature end after just two games. The offensive suffered a season-ending knee injury, and the Titans themselves missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018. After the season, Lewan stated that he would need time to consider whether he’d want to play with a new team or retire.
Taylor Lewan originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the Tennessee Titans, Lewan only appeared in 11 games as a rookie while making six starts. He earned a full-time starting role in 2015, starting all 15 games in which he appeared for rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota. Unfortunately, the Titans still finished the season with a 3-13 record.
Over the next three seasons, Taylor Lewan established himself as one of the best tackles in football. From 2016 to 2018, he started in 47 of a possible 48 games, helping the Titans make the postseason while earning three consecutive postseason appearances. In July of 2018, Taylor Lewan signed a contract extension that made him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league.
Unfortunately, the injuries started to pile up following his third-straight Pro Bowl season. He only played 12 games in 2019 while the Titans made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Sadly, this wasn’t a one-time fluke, as various ailments limited Lewan to five, 13, and two games in the next three seasons.
Since signing his rookie contract, Taylor Lewan has played in 105 games while making 100 starts.
