Win-lose-tie? Predicting the Philadelphia Eagles 2023 Schedule

Win-lose-tie? The Philadelphia Eagles 2023 schedule is just one of the many intriguing NFL schedules to be released.
Eagles 2023 Schedule

The Philadelphia Eagles 2023 schedule is just one of the many intriguing NFL schedules to be released. On the back of their incredible run to the Super Bowl last year, the Eagles had one of the easiest schedules in the league. This year, they have  the hardest. The Eagles will get tested early and often through the year and get every team’s best shot. Only 18 teams have made it back to the Super Bowl in consecutive years, and it will undoubtedly be a tough task for them. But, with the ridiculous roster the Eagles have, and the young promising prospects and free agents acquired, they should be the favorites in the NFC. Here’s how the Eagles 2023 schedule shakes out.

Win-lose-tie? Predicting the Philadelphia Eagles 2023 Schedule

Week 1:  Eagles @ Patriots

To Start off the Eagles 2023 season, they travel up to Boston to face the New England Patriots on a Sunday afternoon game. This is the likely date the Patriots will celebrate Tom Brady’s career. No other team would be more unhappy to see his ceremony than the Eagles. The Patriots have talent on both sides of the ball and do not be surprised if Belichick comes with some tricks up his sleeve. It could be a close first-half but expect the Eagles to get the job done in the season opener.

Prediction: Eagles dominate the second half, leave with a win.

Week 2: Vikings @ Eagles (1-0) (Thursday Night Football)

A matchup that has been often seen the last few years, the Minnesota Vikings  will come back down to Lincoln Financial Field. The Vikings have an incredible game-changing receiver in Justin Jefferson, who is a problem for any team he matches up against. Yet, with the impending release or trade of their other game-changer, Dalvin Cook, there are not a lot of other proven weapons to fear. It’s hard to imagine the Vikings being a much better team than last year without Cook, Linebacker Eric Kendricks and the saga going on with Zadarius Smith. Expect more of the same from last year.

Prediction: Eagles get a comfortable win.

Week 3: Eagles (2-0) @ Buccaneers (Monday Night Football)

Off a hot start and a long week to prepare, the Eagles travel down to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. The Buccaneers first year without Brady will have some people down on this team, but they still have loads of talent on defense. Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield played well late in the season with the Rams and pairing him with their two star receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin could be dangerous. This team is talented, but they still have too many unproven holes to put this game on upset watch.

Prediction: Eagles win by double-digits.

Week 4: Commanders @ Eagles (3-0)

The first NFC East game of the Eagles season has them playing at home against the Washington Commanders. The Commanders were the team last year to ruin the Eagles perfect season. Do not assume they can do it again. There are certainly some game wreckers on the Commanders defensive line and playmakers at the receiver positions. Yet, there are massive questions surrounding the Commanders new presumed starting quarterback, Sam Howell. NFC East games can be wacky and oddly competitive, but the Eagles will not want to see another perfect season lost to the Commanders.

Prediction: Eagles cruise past the Commanders.

Week 5: Eagles (4-0) @ Rams

The Eagles will then travel to California to take on the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams figure to be one of the worst teams in the league even with some of the big names they still have on the roster. There’s not much to say here, the Eagles are good, the Rams are bad, and the stadium will be filled with many influencers influencing. Let’s hope they don’t influence too hard.

Prediction: Eagles blow them out, but the LA influencers gain a couple followers.

Week 6: Eagles (5-0) @ Jets

Up to Week 6, the Jets match-up will be the most entertaining by far, when the Eagles travel up the road to take on the New York Jets. It should be the first true test for the Eagles 2023 schedule, against a Jets team that may be the best they have been in years. The Jets defense was one of the best defenses in the league last year and expect them to be one of the best if not the best this year. Aaron Rodgers, even as old as he is, will change the dreadful offense from last year to a good one, along with their young core of talented playmakers. While the offenses will make people excited for a high-scoring game, expect this to be an ugly battle between two top tier defenses. The most efficient offense will win this game by a slight margin.

Prediction: Eagles win a physical, fairly low-scoring game.

Week 7: Dolphins @ Eagles (6-0)

On paper, the Miami Dolphins have a top three roster in the NFL. While there are some questions as to the quarterback’s health, when Tua Tagovailoa is healthy he can run the offense well and they will score points with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle making plays. Defensively, the Dolphins have some massively underrated menaces in Christian Wilkins, Jaelan Phillips, and Jevon Holland. Not even mentioning the duo at Corner for the Dolphins in Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey. This is a tough game, especially coming off the Jets game the previous week. It wouldn’t be a surprise if this game ended with both teams in the teens or both teams in the 40’s. However, if the Eagles keep the ball rolling from the previous week, they could earn another close win in a thriller.

Prediction: Eagles squeak out another win keep undefeated season alive.

Week 8: Eagles (7-0) @ Commanders

Even though someone (me) was puffing their chest out in the last matchup versus the Commanders, this just feels like a potential let down game again this year. Coming off two incredibly hard and physical games against the Jets and the Dolphins, another NFC East game might be the tipping point where the Eagles could lose some of their edge. However, the Eagles will remember what happened last year in the capital, and it is hard to believe they will not get a little extra motivation and fire to handle their business here this time.

Prediction: Eagles get the job done, stay undefeated.

Week 9: Cowboys @ Eagles (8-0)

The Eagles 2023 schedule sees their first hard stretch of the season come to an end with the Dallas Cowboys making their annual trip to Philadelphia. There is always a lot of hatred and passion in this rivalry and that will be doubled down by looking at the division and conference standings. The Cowboys have superstars, but the Eagles are a more well-rounded team and have the advantage with just about every position group. Yet, coming off this hard stretch of games, it’s fair to wonder about the freshness and health of the Eagles a week before their bye. The Cowboys are 10-8 at Lincoln Financial Field, and as much as it hurts to write this, this could be the Eagles first loss of the season.

Prediction: Cowboys win a one-score game.

Week 10: Bye Week (8-1)

It’s always great to have your bye week in the middle of the season rather than too late or too early in the season. This bye week also breaks up a ridiculous stretch of tough teams the Eagles will face. It’s a useful bye that can help the team get their focus and health back a little bit before the next difficult stretch of games.

Week 11:  Eagles (8-1) @ Chiefs (Monday Night Football)

The second difficult stretch of games on the Eagles 2023 schedule begins with last year’s Super Bowl rematch. The Eagles will travel down to Arrowhead stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. Both teams here are coming off a bye week and should be fully refreshed and focused on of the biggest matchups of the year. Andy Reid has an astounding record of 27-4 coming off a bye week, and will definitely have the Chiefs ready to face off against his old team. Eagles players will also be foaming at the mouth for another chance to take on the defending champs. This is obviously a tough game to call, but the Eagles motivation not only from last year’s loss, but a potential loss to the Cowboy a few weeks prior will give them the edge in this scenario.

Prediction: Eagles tie up the record with the Chiefs, one win a piece.

Week 12: Bills @ Eagles (9-1)

The Eagles next game will be at home versus the Buffalo Bills, another team with Super Bowl aspirations. Bills quarterback Josh Allen can win any game he’s playing in if he’s at his best, and the Bills defense has been good over the years. However, the Bills offensive line has not been the calling card for this team and has often been a weakness. Expect the Eagles defensive line to put on a show and help slow down Josh Allen and the Bills offense. Defensively, the Bills are rock solid, but outside of Von Miller, there are not enough game changers to slow down the Eagles offense. The Bills are a great team, but the Eagles should be better on both sides of the ball.

Prediction: Eagles pull away late and get a win.

Week 13:  49ers @ Eagles (10-1)

The San Fransisco 49ers will come back to Philadelphia for an NFC Championship rematch late in the season. What is becoming an intense rivalry between the two teams, this game will surely produce another heated and physical contest. These are the two most talented teams in the NFC, and much like Eagles vs Chiefs, the 49ers will have a lot of extra motivation after their loss last year. As long as, the 49ers have a functional quarterback this time, they will be able to keep pace with the Eagles offense. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan always will have a few plays that just break the defense and create big gains or touchdowns for the offense. The big difference in this game will be how well the 49ers secondary can hold up against A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Expect a high-scoring laser light show of a game.

Prediction: Eagles edge out the 49ers late in the game.

Week 14: Eagles (11-1) @ Cowboys

The second time these teams face off comes at another unbelievably good time for the Cowboys. At the end of another incredibly tough stretch, after facing the Chiefs, Bills, and 49ers the Cowboys will be looking for a sweep on the Eagles. However, the Eagles coming off a few big emotional wins in a row, will be able to rollover the emotional aspect into this week as they look for revenge in this scenario. As mentioned earlier, the Eagles are a more well-rounded team than the Cowboys and they would love to end this difficult stretch in perfection by beating their biggest rivals. These matchups often end with each team having a win and it could likely be more of the same this year.

Prediction: Eagles get revenge, tie up the series with the Cowboys

Week 15: Eagles (12-1) @ Seahawks

After the brutal stretch of games the Eagles have in the last four weeks, they travel cross-country to take on the Seattle Seahawks. This is a dangerous game for much of the same reason as the Cowboys game earlier in the year. The Eagles will likely not be at their physical peak at the end of this stretch and the Seahawks are good enough to take advantage. Expect the Seahawks to boast a top-ten NFL offense. Seattle also has a secondary that can turn a game on its head. The Eagles will be able to score here, but the Seahawks offense have the ability to match them. It’s also likely the Seahawks will need to win this game more than the Eagles do, which could spell some trouble in Seattle.

Prediction: Seahawks win a shootout in Seattle

Week 16: Giants @ Eagles (12-2) (Christmas Day)

Not only will this be the Eagles first game against division rival, the New York Giants, but it’s their first ever game on Christmas day as well! Coming off a loss, the Eagles should be fired up to end the regular season strong before going into the playoffs. They also will likely want to lock up the top seed in the NFC forcing some focus and urgency for this game. The Eagles are a better team in all facets and expect them to handle business here as they take down the Giants in a dominant fashion.

Prediction: Eagles celebrate Christmas with a blowout win

Week 17: Cardinals @ Eagles (13-2)

Former Eagles defensive coordinator and new Arizona Cardinals head coach, Jonathan Gannon, will travel back to Philadelphia late in the season. Like the Rams, most pundits believe the Cardinals to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. With that in mind, there’s reason to believe the Cardinals will be playing for nothing other than pride. Nonetheless, the Eagles are a much better team and will want to finish the regular season on a high note. There’s not much here to believe this game will be close.

Prediction: Another Eagles blowout win

Week 18: Eagles (14-2) @ Giants

Looking at this scenario, it is likely the Eagles will have already wrapped up the number one seed in the NFC. Maybe the Cowboys or the 49ers will still be in the race and that would definitely change the prediction as it stands. However, assuming the Eagles are in the clear for the one seed, expect little time being played by the Eagles starters in this game. The Eagles backups may very well be good enough to win a game like this, but assuming the Giants need a win to solidify their spot in the playoffs, it’s hard to not pick them in a meaningless game for the Eagles.

Prediction: Giants win an ugly game

Eagles 2023 Schedule Final Record: 14-3, #1 seed in the NFC

Final Thoughts on Eagles 2023 Schedule

Expect the Eagles to start the season with vengeance after the crushing defeat in the title game last year. Yet, with such a tough schedule, it will be a hard road for the Eagles throughout most of the year. A 14-3 record might seem like the minimum expectation for this team. However, do not be surprised if they drop a few more games than that. At the same time, this team has the potential to be that good or even greater. Fans should not lose hope because of a few tough losses against great teams. The goal for the Eagles this year is to win the Super Bowl, not win the whole regular season. It does not matter how they get there or what seed they are, just be ready and excited to watch this team in January and February.
