Training camp is just weeks away, but the latest NFL rumors suggest the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders may agree to a trade involving edge rusher Maxx Crosby. According to Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, the 49ers could land Crosby given the current state between Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams. Last season, San Francisco lost several defensive edge rushers, including Fred Warner, leading the team to lean on their backups. While they’ve made the playoffs the same season, to no surprise, the defense collapsed against the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round.
Meanwhile, the Raiders already had their hand out, attempting to trade the former fourth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens. After failing his physical, the team nullified the trade, which led him to return to Las Vegas. While the Raiders aren’t looking to trade the Eastern Michigan product anymore, things can change during the 2026 season. They signed veteran Kirk Cousins, while drafting Fernando Mendoza, so the team is rebuilding its offense.
What the Raiders could use is another pass-catcher. Despite adding WR Jalen Nailor via free agency, there’s room for improvement in the aerial attack. This trade will only work if it means San Francisco could add a receiver.

LWOS Exclusive Blockbuster Proposal
Despite Las Vegas not being too open to dealing Crosby anymore, if the Raiders find themselves in a losing season, it won’t make sense to hold on to the five-time Pro Bowler. Although his latest three-year deal has him locked through the 2027 season, it’d make sense to trade him to a contender. However, what are the Raiders going to ask?
Las Vegas is a needy WR team. The team traded Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, but signed Nailor as a possible replacement. Between Tre Tucker, Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr., they have a list of pass-catchers that aren’t ready to win. They need an explosive playmaker to put Cousins/Mendoza on a different ceiling.
Even the 49ers just added Christian Kirk in free agency; he could be on the move again. The team could offer Kirk, a 2027 first-round pick and a late sixth-round selection. On the other hand, the Raiders would only have to give up Crosby. However, first, the edge rusher must prove in training camp that he can stay healthy before he can generate interest again.
Other Possible Team Proposals
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers probably have one of the most underrated rosters in the league, and are about one or two superstars away from an NFC Championship appearance. The team drafted WR Chris Brazzell while agreeing to a new contract with Jalen Coker. Tetairoa McMillan is WR1, which leaves Xavier Legette fighting for a starting role this upcoming training camp. If he can’t live up to expectations before Week 1, they could include him in a trade package to get Crosby.
The Panthers signed Jaelan Philips and Devin Lloyd to long-term deals, so they have a ferocious defense coming together. However, with Tershawn Wharton returning from injury, they could use the Raiders edge rusher to upgrade the line.
Final Proposal: Carolina receives Maxx Crosby, while Las Vegas gets Xavier Legette, a first- and third-round pick.
Philadelphia Eagles
Meanwhile, the Eagles have been rumored to chase Crosby this offseason and were in the sweepstakes before the Ravens attempted to get him. Despite failing to negotiate on a proposal, the team could take advantage of their WR logjam. Although they traded AJ Brown, they have too many receivers in the same unit. 2026 first-round selection Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks and Devonta Smith are safe, but there are no guarantees for Hollywood Brown nor Elijah Moore.
Final Proposal: Philadelphia receives Maxx Crosby, while Las Vegas acquires Hollywood Brown and two first-round picks.
Dallas Cowboys
With Dallas, they aren’t giving up more than two first-round picks for Crosby. Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys were inches away from getting the edge rusher. While some have argued that the team could trade George Pickens to Las Vegas, it wouldn’t be sensible. Dallas wants to win a championship sooner rather than later, as Dak Prescott is getting older.
Final Proposal: Dallas receives Maxx Crosby, while Las Vegas snags Ryan Flournoy, a first- and fourth-round pick
