 History of the Super Bowl

History of the Super Bowl: What started out as a battle between the NFL's two best teams has turned into an American pastime.
Super Bowl

The Super Bowl all began at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in California. As such, the culmination and finality of the Super Bowl winner is a stunning achievement. Originally, the National Football League (NFL) and the American Football League (AFL) merged for a Super Bowl match and a game was agreed upon. Thus, the most significant game of the season began on Jan.15 1967.

Ultimately, the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs would play at Super Bowl I. Entering the fray, both teams shared animosity for the opposing league. The Chiefs would earn their way through by posting a 11-2-1 record in route to defeating the Buffalo Bills, 31-7 at the AFL Championship game. Conversely, the Packers finished the season with a record of 12-2 record. At the NFL Championship game, the Wisconsin Packers would barely take out the Dallas Cowboys 34-27 securing their spot in the first Super Bowl. Additionally, the big game would broadcast live on the CBS and NBC television network stations.

Tackling the History of the Superbowl

In the end, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. The first two quarters were nail biters as the team from Green Bay, Wisconsin looked to keep their 7-0 lead but lost it by three points. Following the first two quarters, they would kick it into gear in the third with a turnover that lead to a couple of touchdowns. Despite being up 28-10 the Packers continued to mount offense, and racked up another seven points before the game ended. The final score of Super Bowl I was 35-10.

At Super Bowl I, fans would witness athletic excellence combined with downright tenacity with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers toeing the line. Since it was the first time AFL would compete against an NFL team, it certainly inspired a special feeling. As with any sport in-demand the more you know the better you understand it.
