Jadaveon Clowney spent the 2019 season as arguably the best defender on the Seattle Seahawks roster. Acquired in a trade just before the start of the season, Clowney appeared in 13 games for Seattle, making 11 starts. During his time on the field, the former Houston Texan recorded here sacks, 13 quarterback hits, seven tackles-for-loss, one interception, and four forced fumbles. While he didn’t make the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2015, he was one of the most important members of Seattle’s defense.

Clowney initially entered the NFL as the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the Houston Texans, Clowney struggled to gain his NFL footing out of the gate. After struggling through an injury-riddled rookie campaign, Clowney finished 2014 with just seven tackles, three tackles-for-loss, and no sacks while appearing in four games. Clowney started to get healthy in 2015, but he still didn’t play up to his full potential. Appearing in 13 games (starting nine), Clowney finished the year with a modest 4.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits, and eight tackles-for-loss.

The former first-overall pick started to play up to his talent in 2016. Appearing and starting in all 14 games, Clowney recorded six sacks, 17 quarterback hits, 16 tackles-for-loss, and one forced fumble while earning the first Pro Bowl nod of his career. He proved to be even better from 2017 to 2018, recording a combined 18.5 sacks, 42 quarterback hits, and 37 tackles-for-loss.
