Jordan Howard Signs With Miami Dolphins

Jordan Howard spent the 2019 season sharing the backfield with Miles Sanders on the Philadelphia Eagles. Starting off the season as a starter, Howard recorded 525 yards and six touchdowns on 119 carries, good for 4.4 yards-per-carry. Additionally, the former Chicago Bear added an additional 10 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield. It’s worth noting that Howard suffered an injury midway through the season, and came back to a diminished role with Miles Sanders taking over.

Howard initially entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Selected by the Chicago Bears, Howard overcame his underwhelming draft stock and managed to play a large role in the backfield. Appearing in 15 games and making 13 starts, the rookie recorded 1,313 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 252 carries. This impressive season earned him the first and only Pro Bowl nomination of his career.

Howard proved he wasn’t a one-year wonder in 2017, as he continued to hold on to the starting job. Appearing in all 16 games, Howard recorded 1,122 yards and nine touchdowns on 276 rushing attempts. He once again hit the 250-carry plateau in 2018, this time accumulating 935 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games. Unfortunately, Howard’s minimal role in the passing game led to the Chicago Bears sending him away to the Philadelphia Eagles for a late-round pick swap.N

Throughout the course of his career, Howard has accumulated 3,895 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns on 897 carries, good for a 4.3 yards-per-carry career average.
