Antonio Brown issued a public apology to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, leading to some speculation that the former All-Pro could make a return to Foxboro. However, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic and Tom Curran of NBC Sports, Brown will not re-sign with the Patriots. Both reporters cite sources within Gillette Stadium as their claims.

Antonio Brown, New England Patriots Reunion Not Going to Happen

Antonio Brown had one of the most interesting offseasons of any player in recent memory. After missing the Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 finale, the former sixth-round pick arrived in Oakland via trade. Brown wouldn’t even play a game for the Raiders, as the team released him prior to the season opener. Brown then signed with the New England Patriots and appeared in one game for the reigning Super Bowl champions. During his time in New England, Brown recorded four receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown.

However, the Patriots quickly decided that Brown wasn’t worth the headache. The wide receiver failed to inform the team about an impending lawsuit regarding accused sexual misconduct and followed that up by sending intimidating texts to a different accuser. The Patriots parted ways with the talented yet troubled wideout prior to their Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets.

The Patriots are currently hurting at the wide receiver position. Mohamed Sanu suffered a high ankle sprain against the Philadelphia Eagles while Phillip Dorsett is currently in concussion protocol. Additionally, the Patriots placed special teams ace Gunner Olszewski on the injured reserve with an ankle injury. This leaves Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, and Jakobi Meyers as the only healthy receivers on the roster. However, if the Patriots are looking for outside help at wide receiver, it won’t come from Antonio Brown.
