Because there just wasn’t enough big-name trades going on, the Kansas City Chiefs dealt edge defender Dee Ford to the San Francisco 49ers. The Kansas City Chiefs exchanged a 2020 second-round pick for Ford’s services. Ford, a one-time Pro Bowler, spent the first four years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ford had a season to remember in 2018. Appearing and starting in all 16 games for the first time in his career, the Auburn product recorded 13 sacks, 55 tackles, and 29 quarterback hits. Perhaps most impressively, Ford recorded a league-leading seven forced fumbles during his time on the field. During Kansas City’s two-game playoff run, Ford recorded one sack, four tackles, two quarterback hits, and one forced fumble.

Dee Ford initially entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the Kansas City Chiefs, Ford appeared in all 16 games as a rookie without recording a start. During his time on the field, Ford recorded 1.5 sacks, seven tackles, five quarterback hits, and one tackle-for-loss.

Ford slowly earned a starting role during his second season in the league. Earning five starts in 14 games played, the former first-round pick recorded four sacks, 23 tackles, and 11 quarterback hits. Additionally, the edge defender broke up two passes on the season.

Ford broke out during the 2016 season. Starting 14 of the 15 games in which he played, Ford recorded 10 sacks, 38 tackles, and 17 quarterback hits. Additionally, the Auburn product recorded the first forced fumble of his career. Unfortunately for Ford, injuries limited the stalwart edge defender to just six games in 2017. During his limited time on the field, Ford recorded two sacks, 13 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, and seven quarterback hits.

Throughout the course of his career, Ford has recorded 30.5 sacks, 136 tackles, 36 tackles-for-loss, and 69 quarterback hits.
