Former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson will sign with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year deal, per Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson. The deal is worth $10 million per year, with Jackson receiving $30 million over three years. The Eagles were in the market for a replacement for a defensive tackle after Timmy Jernigan left for free agency. The Eagles fill a hole in their depth chart days before the league year starts on March 13.

Philadelphia Eagles to Sign Defensive Tackle Malik Jackson to Deal
Malik Jackson recently finished a three-year stint with the Jaguars. During his time with the team, Jackson accumulated 18 sacks, 105 total tackles and four forced fumbles. Jackson was considered an important piece to “Sacksonville” which featured Dante Fowler Jr. (before he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams), Calais Campbell, and Marcell Dareus. However, after playing well his first two seasons with the Jaguars, Jackson’s production fell. Jackson could only muster three and a half sacks in the 2018 season, his lowest since his second year in the league, and 32 total tackles.
The Eagles need another capable defensive lineman to help clog up holes and generate quarterback pressures. Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox continues to be a dominant force in this league, despite getting up in age. Cox played tremendously for the Eagles in their two game postseason run, especially in their loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Haloti Ngata did not nearly live up to expectations last season. Ngata could only grab one sack and 17 tackles in 13 appearances with the Eagles last season. It looks the Eagles are looking for depth at the defensive line position, with Cox and Ngata increasing in age. Malik Jackson will hopefully be more productive in an Eagles uniform after a disappointing 2018 season with the Jaguars.
