The New York Jets are bringing back their starting quarterback from last year. Josh McCown has reportedly agreed to sign a one-year, $10 million deal with them. While it is unclear right now what his role with the team will be in 2018, he will be playing regardless in the Meadowlands again.

Josh McCown Agrees to One-Year, $10 Million Deal with New York Jets
McCown is a rare case in the NFL of going from virtually unknown backup to well-known backup and occasional starter. He is 38 and the Jets are his tenth team. However, he has been out regularly on the field for one team or another the last five years. The Jets will have some consistency at the quarterback position by bringing him back.
Despite being 38, his 2017 season was arguably the best of his career. In 13 games, he passed for 2,927 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions while also scoring five rushing touchdowns. He took a Jets team that was expected to be a bottom dweller in 2017 and kept them competitive. He went 5-8 with them as a starter before he got injured. The highlight of his season was a shootout victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, which he capped with a go-ahead rushing touchdown in the final minutes.
McCown played college for three years at Southern Methodist University in Dallas from 1998-2000. He transferred to Sam Houston State for his senior year. While there, he was named First-Team All-SFL (Southland Conference) and the SFL Player of the Year.
He was drafted in 2002 by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round. He spent four years there before he began journeying around the league. During a period from 2006 to 2011, he played for the Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, and the Carolina Panthers. He also had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers, being cut before the season started both times. In 2013 with the Chicago Bears he had a breakout season due to injuries to Jay Cutler, allowing him to get starting jobs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns over the next few years before signing with the Jets in 2017. In his career, he has 97 touchdown passes, 78 interceptions, and 13 rushing touchdowns.
