Arizona Cardinals Preseason Schedule

Football season is only months away. The Arizona Cardinals fans are gearing up already for the season start. Let's take a look at the preseason schedule.

The 2017 NFL preseason schedule for the Arizona Cardinals has been released. Official game dates and times will not be made known until as early as next week. Including the Hall Of Fame game against the Dallas Cowboys, the Cardinals are playing in five preseason match-ups. Let’s take a look at their schedule so far.

Arizona Cardinals Preseason Schedule

The one confirmed date at this time is the Hall of Fame game, which will be August 3rd in Canton, OH. As insignificant as any preseason game may seem, this match up between the Cardinals and the Cowboys has some very historic value. Once NFC East rivals (1988-2002), the two teams had to play each other at least twice every season. Those were trying times for loyal Cardinals fans. When the hated Cowboys would pay visit to the Cardinals home stadium, the memories of that era are beyond nostalgic.

“I do have a memory of going to Arizona in the past and there being a lot of Cowboys fans there,” Cowboys head coach and former quarterback Jason Garrett once said. “But at the same token there were a lot of Arizona fans too. We always felt like that was a tough environment to play in.”

This will be the only time this season that the two powerhouse teams will meet. Though it is the Hall of Fame game, just the fact alone that NFL football has finally returned will be significant enough to make this one heck of a match up.

Let’s take a look at the other match ups.

On The Slate

The Cardinals host the first two regular preseason games at home in Glendale. The first match up, during the week of August 10-14, will have the Las Vegas Raiders making their first ever visit (as a team from Las Vegas) to University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Chicago Bears come to town in the next week (August 17-21). The Cardinals haven’t played an exhibition game against the Bears since 2010.

The final two preseason games for the Cardinals will be on the road. First up will be a game against the Atlanta Falcons (August 24-27) at their new Mercedes Benz Stadium. The Cardinals will not have to face the Falcons at all during the regular season.

The final game will be played either August 31 or September 1 in Colorado against the Denver Broncos. The Cardinals have faced the Broncos for the final preseason game 12 times in the last 14 seasons.

The regular season schedule should be released sometime next week. Also next week, the Cardinals will begin their voluntary off-season strength and conditioning program.
