Mike Adams Signs With the Carolina Panthers

Mike Adams played and started in 15 games last season, missing one game against the Green Bay Packers due to a groin injury suffered the previous week. During the 15 games, he recorded 79 tackles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and two passes defended. Adams was not selected to the 2016 Pro Bowl team, ending a two-year streak of nominations at his position (2014-2015).

Originally picked up as an undrafted free agent by the San Francisco 49ers in 2004, he spent the first three seasons of his career with the 49ers, starting 18 games and recording five interceptions. Adams left San Francisco in 2006 for the Cleveland Browns, where he played for five years and started in 32 games.

In 2012 Adams signed with the Denver Broncos as an unrestricted free agent. Adams started 23 games over the course of two seasons (playing in all 32 games) with Denver, amassing 124 tackles, two forced fumbles, one sack, and one interception. He was released by the Broncos early in May of 2014 following a lackluster performance during the latter half of the 2013 season.

Adams has undergone something of a resurgence in Indianapolis after being released from the Broncos. Signing with the Colts in June of 2014, Adams has since been selected to two Pro Bowls (as an alternate) and widely been heralded as a leader of what has been mostly a forgettable defense. Turning 36 this March, it is yet to be seen how much gas is left in the tank for Adams, who has so far made the most out of the twilight of his career.
