Jet Greaves Contract
Greaves had been a restricted free agent. Furthermore, it had been announced that they had filed for arbitration to get a deal done. However, as Elliotte Friedman had referenced, the two sides were quite far apart. This deal is a great way of meeting in the middle, and allowing Greaves to continue to develop his game for his next deal in a few years time.

Greaves is a 25-year-old native of Cambridge, Ontario. In 2025-26, he really emerged as a number-one NHL goaltender. He played 55 games on a Columbus Blue Jacket team that finished fifth in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division. Coming into the season, he only had appeared in 21 NHL games. Needless to say, it was a big jump for the young goalie, and one he handled with grace.
Last year for Columbus, he went 26-19-9 with two shutouts. He also had a 2.60 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. In 76 career NHL games, he now carries a very respectable .913 save percentage. With numbers like that, on a middle-of-the-pack Columbus team, it is not hard to see why he signed the deal he ultimately signed.
As the Jet Greaves contract becomes finalized, it isn’t hard to see the potential his has. He has been on many people’s radar as a goaltender of the future. Case in point, his performance for Canada at the 2026 World Hockey Championships was a great example. In eight games for Canada, he went 6-2-0, with a 1.88 GAA and a .920 SV%, including one shutout. He has put himself in the conversation for future, best-on-best Team Canada rosters in the future. Now, he has a contract that can see him command that respect in the years to come.
