Trevor Zegras Re-Signs with the Philadelphia Flyers

Zegras has played for the Anaheim Ducks and the Flyers over his six-year NHL career. Last season, the Bedford, New York native totaled 26 goals and 41 assists for 67 points in 81 games last season. He recorded 18 minutes, 43 seconds of time, which was nearly a minute above the normal amount he averaged. The 25-year-old had a Corsi for of 56.3 and a relative Corsi of 11.6.

Zegras has scored 93 goals and 160 assists for 253 points in 349 career games. Anaheim originally drafted him in the first round, ninth overall of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He was sent over for Ryan Poehling and draft picks. Last season, Zegras’ 26 goals were a career-high in his short NHL career.

He’s also represented his native United States at the international level. Zegras was part of the Gold Medal winning team at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships. He was also part of the fifth-place team at the 2024 IIHF Worlds.

What It Means

Zegras has seemingly found a home with the Flyers. It looked like the lifelong New York Rangers fan has a place with one of their archrivals. The forward flourished in his first season in the city, which was also the first season for head coach Rich Tocchet behind the bench.

Philadelphia made the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since the COVID-19 shortened 2019-20 campaign. There’s plenty of promise in this young roster and Zegras played an important part in that.

The expectations will be huge on this team. However, it seems the forward is just hitting his stride with the club.
