Gap in Dylan Larkin Contract Talks

Rumour: Andy Strickland of Bally’s Sports Midwest reports there is a gap of $1 million between Larking and the Red Wings. Detroit is prepared to give the Michigan native $8 million per season. However, the Red Wings captain wants around $9 million per season for his next deal. Larkin’s camp did state that he doesn’t want to leave Detroit.

The former University of Michigan product becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. General manager Steve Yzerman wants to make sure his team’s captain is a Red Wing for a long time. Yzerman already took care of some business when he signed Olli Maatta to a contract. However, Lakin seems to be Yzerman’s main concern.

Can the Dylan Larkin Contract Get Done?

Detroit may consider trading Larkin if they can’t get a deal done. The Red Wings don’t want to see one of their core players walking away for nothing. However, that probably is going to be Yzerman’s last resort.

The Wings are trending upward and the Waterford, Mich. native leads the team in goals and assists. Detroit will more than likely get the deal done, but all of this drama has to be nerve-wracking for Wings fans. They need to get a Dylan Larkin contract finished up, but it hasn’t been easy.
