As we approach the deadline, the rumours are circling around players to be moved. However, there are other rumours and buzz surrounding contracts. One team that has done a great job of locking up their core group is the Buffalo Sabres. One thing to look out for is a Rasmus Dahlin contract.

Buffalo Sabres Focus On Rasmus Dahlin Contract

Rumour: Lance Lysowski From The Buffalo News discusses a contract for the next Sabres Star

The Buffalo Sabres are a team to watch for. They are young, fun to watch, and have a developing young core. Management has done a great job of locking up Tage Thompson, and most recently Dylan Cozens. In addition, they have a solid core with Alex Tuch, Jeff Skinner, and Owen Powers. Now that they have locked up their two young centres, the shift goes to elite defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.

Why He Deserves The Contract

Patience is a virtue. When it comes to Dahlin, that patience has proved to have been worth the wait. With that patience comes a Rasmus Dahlin contract extension. He has developed into a great player for them, displaying his offensive talents. Dahlin has consistently been a 40-point producer but has taken his game to a new level. This season he is a favourite for the Norris Trophy and is having a career year for the Sabres. Dahlin has 14 goals, 42 assists, and 56 points. In addition, 25 of those points have come on the power play. He has been everything you would want out of a franchise defenseman and has gotten better each year.

It is a new era of Sabres hockey. Unlike years past, the young players want to stick around in Buffalo. Not only is this great for the city, but also the players. The culture being built is special and the fact that players are signing quickly signals good times are ahead.
