We’ve got another round of NHL rumours and teams have already gotten started making moves. The New York Rangers got the ball rolling and other teams are going to get in on the act. One team that may make a few moves is the Detroit Red Wings. People are already thinking about Dylan Larkin possibly getting traded. However, there could be a Tyler Bertuzzi trade by the March 3 deadline.

Tyler Bertuzzi Trade Possible at Deadline
Rumour: TSN’s Insider Trading segment took a look at if the soon-to-be 28-year-old will be traded by the deadline. Insider Darren Dreger reported that the Red Wings are taking calls on the struggling forward. Bertuzzi has been hurt and only has two goals to show for so far this season. This is coming off a career-high 30-goal campaign in the 2021-22 season.

The Subdury, Ontario native is in the final year of a contract that sees him make $4.75 million per season. General manager Steve Yzerman may want to move that contract so he can have a little more wiggle room to re-sign Larkin. However, Yzerman hasn’t completely closed the door on re-signing Bertuzzi to an extension according to Dreger.
What a Tyler Bertuzzi Trade Means
The Red Wings have taken some steps to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, there are still a few pieces away from being a contender. Bertuzzi could be intriguing for a team that is willing to take a chance on him. He’s just one season removed from scoring 30 goals and that’s with only playing in 68 games because he couldn’t play in Canada last season.
Yzerman isn’t a general manager that rushes into things. He takes his time and weighs his options before making a move. Bertuzzi could return to form and be a valuable player on a young Detroit team. However, Yzerman knows that he could get something in return. Bertuzzi also becomes an unrestricted free agent and could walk for nothing if he’s not dealt.
