Kevin Hayes Trade Being Look At

Rumour: ESPN’s Emily Kaplan takes a look at second-half storylines and the Flyers winger may get traded. The 30-year-old became a first-time All-Star this season and has been a bright spot for Philadelphia. Hayes currently has 15 goals and 45 points in 51 games this season.

The Dorchester, Mass. native has three more years on his contract at $7.1 million per season. Philadelphia would likely have to retain some salary in order to move him. However, he could be a sought-after piece if a team is willing to pay the price for him. Kaplan did say that there are some teams that are interested in Hayes.

What a Kevin Hayes Trade Could Mean

There are other Flyers players that are drawing interest other than the aforementioned trio. Kaplan added that an Eastern Conference executive said there’s interest in Nick Seeler as well. Seeler comes at a low price of $750,000 through the 2023-24 season. He may not be a sexy name, but he could provide some value.

General manager Chuck Fletcher has been trying aggressively retool his club, but that has not gone well. However, he can set up himself for future success if he gets some good players, picks and prospects if he hits the right notes. Head coach John Tortorella wrote a letter to season-ticket holders that the team is not in position to contend. A Kevin Hayes trade and other moves could help that a long or set that quest back.
