The fire sale is looking to continue for the Vancouver Canucks. They are shopping young winger Brock Boeser, and goaltender Thatcher Demko is dangling from the tree. Today’s rumours focus on a Luke Schenn trade.

A Luke Schenn Trade Could Be Next

Rumour: Frank Seravelli discusses that many teams have checked in on Luke Schenn.

A Luke Schenn trade could be the next domino to fall in Vancouver. Tough times are ahead for the franchise and they are selling off whatever they can. Schenn brings a boatload of experience and playoff pedigree and is the perfect player for a contending team. A huge bonus to his game is his physical presence and his shutdown ability. In addition, he thrives on being a steady third pair and killing penalties. However, these are qualities you look towards when trying to win the Stanley Cup. Guys like Schenn are impact players that get it done by doing the little things. In addition to that, a huge kicker is his cap hit of $850k makes him an appetizing acquisition.

Teams That Could Make The Trade

As previously discussed, Schenn is a trade target for the Boston Bruins, but they are not the only team. Multiple playoff-calibre hockey teams competing for a championship are in on the veteran defensemen. The next teams that are listed to be landing spots are the Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vegas Golden Knights.

A Luke Schenn trade makes sense for these teams. Schenn already has won a cup in Tampa, and they’ve always managed to add depth at the deadline. He would make for the perfect player under Darryl Sutter because he is physical, blocks shots, and is big. Dallas could use his experience for a deep playoff run. Overall these are great fits that Seravelli has mentioned and it will be fun to see where he ends up.
