Blackhawks Looking at Jake McCabe Trade

Rumour: Chris Johnston for NorthStar Bets takes a look at his big board of trades after the Bo Horvat deal was made. The 29-year-old blueliner has been a bright spot in a crummy season for the Blackhawks. McCabe has two goals and 12 assists in 45 games this season with Chicago, which is struggling mightily this season.

The Eau Claire, Wisc. native is only $4 million and signed through the 2024-25 season. He’s been great in 5-on-5 situations despite the Blackhawks struggling in other areas. McCabe has an even goal differential even though the rest of the team can’t stop letting in goals. His positive defensive play has made him attractive to other teams.

What a Jake McCabe Trade Could Mean

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane may be getting all the trade attention for the Blackhawks. However, McCabe could be a sneaky-good addition for a contending team. His cap hit is pretty affordable and the Blackhawks are looking to unload contracts in order to burn it down for a long rebuild.

McCabe is going to be sought after by plenty of contenders who need defensive help. He doesn’t have a lot of offensive stats, but he will be a strong addition to any team. Davidson is all about stocking up on assets and McCabe is going to get a nice return if Davidson plays his cards right.
