NHL Predictions: December 17 Including The Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers

NHL Predictions

Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is between the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers.

NHL Predictions: Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Boston Bruins

Head to Head: Blue Jackets 0-1 Bruins

The first of our NHL Predictions is between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Boston Bruins. It is going to be a special day as the Bruins honour captain Patrice Bergeron with a ceremonial puck drop. It’s a great day for hockey in the city of Boston.

Columbus is the worst team in the conference. Nothing seems to be going right for them and the injury bug has hit them hard. Johnny Gaudreau is their saving grace and is the key for them offensively. Boston is 3-3 in their last six games and is coming off a shootout loss. The Bruins are one of the highest-scoring teams in the league, and with Columbus allowing the third most goals, it could be a feast for the Bruins offensively.

Prediction: Bruins defeat Blue Jackets 5-2

Ottawa Senators vs Detroit Red Wings

Head to Head: Senators 0-0 Red Wings

This is the first meeting between the Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings. Two of the teams that made big splashes this off-season get to go head-to-head.

The talent for each team is remarkable to watch. In addition to that, the talent is primarily young, and bright futures are ahead for the players and their clubs. Brady Tkachuk, Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, Shane Pinto, and Jake Sanderson.

Both teams are on the outside looking in and separated by four points. It should be a great matchup between two Atlantic Division teams.

Prediction: Red Wings defeat Senators 3-2

Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers

Head to Head: Ducks 0-0 Oilers

Tonights featured matchup on our NHL Predictions is between the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton is 3-2 in their last five games, whereas the Ducks finally secured their second regulation win of the season.

The two teams are in opposite spectrums of the Pacific Division. Edmonton is sitting fourth in the division and pushing further for a playoff spot. Anaheim is at the bottom and is in the Connor Bedard sweepstakes.

This has the makings of a lopsided affair. The Oilers high flying offensive attack and top-ranked power play is no match for the Ducks. Defensively they will have a busy night trying to contain Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who can control the game themselves.

Prediction: Oilers defeat Ducks 5-1
