Key Ottawa Senators Forward To Miss Time With Injury

Josh Norris injury

A prominent Ottawa Senators player will be sidelined with a shoulder injury suffered last game. Joshua Norris will be out for at least two weeks, possibly more depending on MRI results. The Senators will have to manage without their top center for a while.

Josh Norris Out Two Weeks With Shoulder Injury

It hasn’t been the most electric start from Norris this season, but it’s been on pace with his past few. Through five games played, he’s scored once and assisted on one goal, totalling two points. He’s averaging about 18 and a half minutes of ice time per game, and winning about 58% of his faceoffs. His advanced numbers tell a good story too. A 52.5% Corsi For and a 1.7 relative Corsi show he’s making a positive impact on the ice. Last season, he put up 55 points (35 goals and 20 assists) in 66 games. In his fourth season in the league (third real one, as he only played three games his first one), he’s expected to put up his best numbers yet.

What This Means For the Senators

It’s still early in the season, but this is not great news for the Senators. Norris will be a key contributor to this team’s success this season, and having him miss a few weeks is tough. In his place, Claude Giroux, Drake Batherson, and Shane Pinto will have to step up. While there’s no shortage of center talent on this team, the ice time Norris occupies will be difficult to replace. Other players will have to step up and play more to comepsate. While there’s still time to make up for losses in the standings, it’s better to get ahead than try to play catch up. Especially with this newly stacked roster, all eyes are on this Senators team to make the playoffs.
