NHL Qualifying Series Comic Captions: Chicago Blackhawks vs Edmonton Oilers

Have you ever looked at a sports photo and thought of a funny caption? We have, and did a collection of some for the 2019-20 season. Now, we are continuing that with the NHL qualifying series which began recently. We are collecting some photos with humorous captions added to entertain you during this postseason play. Today we cover the Chicago Blackhawks vs the Edmonton Oilers comic captions for the 2019-20 postseason.

Chicago Blackhawks vs Edmonton Oilers

Chicago Blackhawks Win NHL Qualifying Series

It seems that this postseason is filled with upsets and the Blackhawks kept the tradition alive by sending the Oilers packing. They were led by their captain Jonathan Toews who had a couple of two-goal games. Toews also added three assists to be one of the postseason scoring leaders thus far.

Dominik Kubalik also collected three goals. The Blackhawks managed to outscore the offensive powerhouse Oilers even with the best player on the planet Connor McDavid scoring five goals including a hat trick in Game 2.

Corey Crawford didn’t especially have a good series with a .891 save percentage and an inflated 3.75 goals-against-average. So, it seems the Blackhawks proved the theory that if you can outscore the Oilers you have a good chance to beat them.

That may not be enough to dispatch their next opponent. The Vegas Golden Knights are running on all cylinders and are now the top seed in the West. The ‘Hawks will need to play even better to outdo the powerful Vegas club. Adding some additional drama will be the Blackhawks facing their former goalie, Robin Lehner. All that is needed to know is that Vegas is loaded, but then so were the Oilers and the ‘Hawks handled them. Should be a good series.

Edmonton Oilers Eliminated

Who would have thought that this series was going to be taken by Chicago? With the best player in the NHL in Connor McDavid it’s difficult to think that the Oilers would not prevail. It just goes to show you that even with a high-powered offence, there’s no guarantee you will succeed. For McDavid it’s just adding to the fueled rumours that he is sick and tired of losing in Edmonton.

Now, the other situation could be that the Oilers win the Alexis Lafreniere sweepstakes and McDavid will have another offensive threat to add to their arsenal. Unfortunately the team needs better defence and goaltending to move forward.

In this series, all the makings of an Oiler sweep were there, except nobody told the Blackhawks, who played well to move on to the next round. Taking nothing away from the Oilers, but they should have won this series. Now, they need to regroup and think about next season. With their luck in the draft, Lafreniere may be headed to Edmonton to play with McDavid and company. Wouldn’t that be something?
