Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi will undergo hand surgery according to reports from Sportsnet’s Nick Kyprios. He is expected to miss up to six weeks. The second-year forward was placed on the injured reserve Saturday morning, with what was deemed an upper body injury. He was listed as week to week. General Manager John Chayka did not comment on the injury.

The Coyotes have recalled Laurent Dauphin from the Tuscon Roadrunners to replace Domi. Dauphin was with the big club until December 4th but he was sent down after the team had a particularly bad showing against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The ‘Yotes fell 3-2 and were out-shot 60-34 and out-attempted 93-60. In 19 games with Arizona, Dauphin tallied two goals and one assist and averaged 10:56 time-on-ice per game.

In 26 games this season Domi has been one of the most productive Coyotes, notching five goals and 11 assists. His 16 points are good for second on the team, two back of leader Radim Vrbata.

The Coyotes also claimed Josh Jooris off waivers this weekend. Jooris had 13 points in 59 games with the Calgary Flames last year, and 24 in 60 the year before. In 12 games with the New York Rangers this season Jooris earned a goal and an assist.

When asked about the acquisition Chayka told the Coyotes website “Josh is a versatile, right shot forward that provides optionality for our coaching staff,” adding, “He creates depth for our organization and we’re excited to see what he can do with the opportunity.”

Currently the Coyotes line up with Vrbata, Shane Doan, Jamie McGinn and Ryan White on the right side. Jooris wouldn’t provide the same physical presence as White, but could fill in for Tyler Gaudet, who was recently sent down.

With Domi out of the top-six for the foreseeable future Vrbata has slotted over to the right side, and Tobias Rieder has been bumped up to the first line.
