Despite receiving a limited amount of game time this season, meaning a move would do him good, Manchester United have reportedly rejected a Southampton loan offer to sign Brandon Williams.
According to James Ducker of the Telegraph, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to keep a hold of his squad players now more than ever amid a tightly packed schedule.
United have not completely ruled out the loaning of one or two players this window, but it looks at though Williams will not be one of those heading out.
Southampton Loan Offer for Williams Rejected
Williams Needs Minutes
Last season, it looked as though the left-back spot at Manchester United was Brandon Williams’ to lose. Months, the arrival of Alex Telles and Luke Shaw’s return to good form later, and Williams finds himself out of the picture entirely.
A loan move would be ideal for the Englishman right now, who has featured just five times this season, but United seem unwilling to let the fullback leave despite Southampton’s reported interest.
With both Telles and Shaw to fall back on, the decision to reportedly reject Southampton’s proposal seems an unnecessary one by Manchester United.
A loan move to Southampton would only enhance the potential of Brandon Williams as the game time arrives. Yet, as it stands, the 20-year-old’s development looks set to stall whilst sitting on the Manchester United bench.
Southampton an Ideal Destination for Williams
Under Ralph Hasenhuttl, many at St Mary’s have gone from average, inconsistent players to energetic assets to the Southampton squad.
The transformation the Austrian has overseen has been extraordinary- taking his Saints side from a 9-0 loss and relegation battles to a potential European place.
And, with Hasenhuttl to guide him, Southampton would be an ideal destination for Williams on loan. Yet, according to the Telegraph, any Saints loan offer has so far been met with Manchester United rejection.
