Pep Guardiola ‘Pretty Sure’ Kevin De Bruyne Will Stay at Manchester City

Despite earlier reports suggesting the Belgian had turned down Manchester City’s latest contract offer, Pep Guardiola has been quick to deny any such rumours, stating that he is ‘pretty sure’ Kevin De Bruyne will stay. 

Fabrizio Romano added to the City manager’s comments, too- stating that there is no problem with De Bruyne’s contract and he’ll extend in the next few months. 

The news will put the minds of those at the Etihad at ease with De Bruyne a central figure to the Manchester City success in recent years.

As earlier alluded, Kevin De Bruyne is the central piece to Manchester City’s recent and potential future success. The Belgian- should he sign a new contract- could end his career at the Etihad to go down as a legend of the club- following in the footsteps of the likes of David Silva.

The former Chelsea man will be hoping to send reminders of his importance in the forthcoming Carabao Cup semi-final with Manchester United.

A meeting at Wembley with Tottenham Hotspur is up for grabs, but it is a game where both clubs will come together to remember footballing legend Colin Bell, who sadly passed away aged 74 this week. 

The Manchester City legend made 501 appearances for the club, scoring 153 goals, and winning seven major honours. He’ll forever be remembered as not only a City legend but a football legend.  

Those at Manchester City will walk out in Bell’s famous number eight shirt in tonight’s game against Manchester United in honour of the City icon. 

Mike Summerbee, paid tribute to his former teammate, saying: “I am devastated to hear of Colin’s passing. He was more than just a teammate and an incredible footballer, he was a wonderful human being and a true friend.”
