The Carabao Cup tie between Leyton Orient and Tottenham Hotspur has been called due to positive coronavirus tests at the League 2 club, the EFL has confirmed.
In a statement, the EFL said: “Discussions are ongoing between the relevant stakeholders in regards to the implications of the decision not to play tonight’s game and a further update will be provided in due course.
“Leyton Orient, the EFL and the relevant authorities are conducting a thorough review of the club’s Covid-19 secure procedures with the view to reopening the stadium and training ground as soon as possible.”

More Fixture Congestion for Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs, who were already forced to contend with a fixture list filled to its limit, will now have to make room for the rearranged Carabao Cup clash with Leyton Orient. It throws yet another spanner in the works of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
The Spurs boss will now have to balance the Europa League qualifying rounds alongside Premier League action and Carabao Cup football. The next month could prove to be the make or break for the Spurs season just a few games in.
Growing Concern for Football
As players are returning from their breaks away, the Covid-19 cases within the football world are going up. Just today, Atletico Madrid’s Jose Giminez’s test came back as positive. It should be a growing concern in European football.
Last season was put on hold as soon as a couple tests came back positive. Now, with far more cases being confirmed, those in charge around the European leagues may be forced to make an early decision on the matter.
It has already been confirmed that fans will not be allowed back into stadiums in October, despite earlier plans to ensure a return, amid the growing cases of Covid-19. Should cases continue to be confirmed, it will be interesting to see if games or worse, league campaigns, survive.
